For the past two years I have taken part in 28 Drawings Later, a challenge to sketch something every day in February and post it online.
This year I decided to set myself a tightly-focused challenge to avoid the problem of finding something interesting to draw every day. I chose to concentrate on the theme of entrances around London and to cycle to every location and draw it en plein air.
I deliberately avoided planning each drawing too far in advance but kept a flexible list of places I wanted to draw and decided on the day. I tried to visit places I have never been to before, such as Osterley and Pitzhanger, but also to look in more detail at familiar landmarks like the Bank of England and Waterloo Station.
Each day I uploaded the day’s sketch to Flickr and Twitter.
Part-way through I was invited to write a guest post on the Urban Sketchers London blog and, along with other Urban Sketchers I was invited to take part in a group exhibition at the Timber Yard in Covent Garden.
At the end I created a book of my drawing along with maps showing where I had visited. I published the book through Blurb (still available).
